Hi! I'm Kirsty and I'm from Canada but left in 2001 to travel and never found my way back there to live permanently. I've since lived and travelled in a bunch of places and now I found myself in Portugal where I bought a half acre of land with with ruin on it in September 2020. In my other life I make maps of Africa capital cities and so I expect I'll be travelling between the two continents at least once a year as I try to balance work and life here in Portugal... it's a hell of a commute but I love it! My plan is to renovate the ruin using natural materials, build a few other natural buildings, and set up a small food forest and garden using permaculture principles and this channel is my attempt at documenting the process of setting up an off grid life here. I don't really know what I'm doing and I'm learning as I go, so if this sounds interesting, please follow along and join in the fun as I figure things out along the way!
