Phyzix, a multi award winning Malawian musician, rapper, songwriter, performer and record executive, also known as Gamba, Captain Bae, Man Phyzo and Mountain Goat. Born and raised in Area 12, Lilongwe, Phyzix rose to prominence after relocating to Area 25 and releasing the breakout single “Cholapitsa” in 2006. In 2008, he founded It’s Only Entertainment (IOE) and released his debut album The Lone Ranger LP in 2009. With 16 albums to date, Phyzix is one of Malawi’s most consistent and influential hip hop artists. Since the inception of urban music awards in Malawi, he has received over 100 award nominations and has won across major categories including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year & Best Hip Hop Act. Internationally, he was ranked number 32 on the Top 100 African Rappers list, the only Malawian, and recorded a Top 10 song, “Follow”, on BBC Radio. Beyond music, Phyzix is a marketer, banker, entrepreneur, activist, philanthropist and musicians union leader.
